Pellionia pulchra, commonly known as the watermelon Pellionia or trailing watermelon plant, is a species of tropical plant in the family Urticaceae. Native to Southeast Asia, Pellionia pulchra is a popular houseplant known for its attractive foliage. This plant makes a great addition to terrariums/vivariums.
Pellionia pulchra is a shingling or climbing plant that typically grows up to 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimeters) in height. It has succulent-like leaves that are round or heart-shaped, measuring about 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 centimeters) in diameter. The leaves are bright green with prominent markings resembling the rind of a watermelon, featuring deep black veining on a dark green background.
