Kalanchoe daigremontiana - "Mother of Thousands"
Kalanchoe daigremontiana - "Mother of Thousands"
Kalanchoe daigremontiana, commonly known as Mother of Thousands or Mother of Millions, is an intriguing succulent plant belonging to the Crassulaceae family. Native to Madagascar, this plant is known for its unique reproductive method and its ability to produce numerous plantlets along the edges of its leaves.
The leaves of Kalanchoe daigremontiana are thick and fleshy, with serrated edges and a pale green color. What sets this plant apart is its ability to reproduce asexually through tiny plantlets that form along the leaf margins. These plantlets, which resemble miniature versions of the parent plant, develop roots and eventually drop off to grow into new individual plants if they come into contact with soil.

SUBSTRATE NOTES
Some versions of this plant are grown in PON, which is a mixed volcanic material based substrate often used to grown plants hydroponically. You may choose to keep the plant in PON or replant it in your preferred substrate after the plant has acclimated to its new environment. To grow in PON, simply maintain a inch or 2 water reservoir and the plant roots will absorb the water that is drawn upwards through the substrate.
