Hoya australis, commonly known as the wax plant or wax vine, is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae. It is native to eastern Australia, particularly the states of Queensland and New South Wales. The plant is highly regarded for its attractive foliage and clusters of fragrant flowers.
Hoya australis is a vine-like plant that typically grows up to 6 to 10 feet (2 to 3 meters) in length. The leaves are thick, glossy, and waxy, hence the common name "wax plant." They are typically elliptical or oval-shaped, measuring about 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 centimeters) in length. The plant produces clusters of star-shaped flowers that are highly fragrant. The individual flowers are usually white or pale pink, with a small red or maroon center.
